Breast Reconstruction

There are a variety of surgical techniques available for breast reconstruction and Dr. Hegge is pleased to bring these options and kind, compassionate care to the Williston community. Breast reconstruction is safe and has no known effect on altering the natural history of breast cancer or interfering with other forms of breast cancer treatment such as chemotherapy or radiation.  Most mastectomy patients are medically appropriate for breast reconstruction, either immediately following breast removal or at a later time. It is a personal choice, and we want to be there to support you in the journey to recovery.

We will provide a team approach in conjunction with the general surgeon, family doctor and oncologists to provide the best, individualized care and your desired reconstruction.  Options for reconstruction include prosthesis, implants, fat grafting, local muscle transfer (TRAM or Latissimus flaps) and free tissue transfer.  For more information, visit the ASPS website or call today for a consultation.

Breast Reduction

Women who have very large breasts may experience a variety of problems from the weight and size of their breasts, such as back, neck, and shoulder pain, skin irritation and daily functional limitations.  Breast reduction surgery is used to address these problems by reducing the size of the breasts through a variety of techniques.  Most techniques reposition the nipple to a more appropriate position, and also reduce the size of the areola in proportion to the new size of the breast.

Skin Cancer

Exposure to sun and other environmental factors can lead to a variety of skin lesions.  While it’s important to always protect your skin from the sun, many of us have already sustained considerable damage from just daily activities.  When lumps and bumps arise, cancer can be a frightening possibility.  Dr. Hegge can help you with obtaining a biopsy and diagnosis of any suspicious lesions/moles, removing any skin cancers and reconstructing the area after removal.  We also work closely with the rest of the care team for any additional treatments or referrals.  Call today with any concerns or questions.

Scar Revision

If you have difficulties with poor scarring, or have been involved in an accident or surgery that has left you with prominent scars, there are a variety of options available for improving their appearance.  We use a combination of surgery, injections and topical modalities to provide an approach targeted to your needs.  Call for a consultation today.

Wound Therapy/Burns

Acute soft tissue injuries are one of the most frequent reasons for visit to an ER or Physician office.  Plastic surgeons treat a variety of wounds including acute burns, severe lacerations, and injuries to cosmetically sensitive areas.  They also specialize in the treatment of chronic or non-healing wounds.

Facial Injuries

Facial injuries can be some of the most devastating and compromising injuries a person can receive, as your face is the first thing people see and is a personal source of identity and self-confidence.  Dr. Hegge has the ability to treat the soft tissue defects and underlying bony abnormalities that can be involved with acute facial trauma or poor healing after delayed treatment.

Cleft Lip/Palate

Cleft lip and palate are some of the most common birth defects in the US.  Dr. Hegge has had the privilege of working with Operation Smile in Africa and Brazil on outreach missions, and continues to have a special interest in international health and cleft lip and palate surgery.
